Never heard of this label...are they similar to the Difinitive/Lone Hill group? Wasn't Air Song originally on India Navigation? Did they buy/lease the rights to release this one on cd? The prices seem fair enough. Curious about the remastering.

Sorry for all the questions ^_^

No connection to the Andorrans. Why Not was a Japanese label that originally issued these titles on vinyl in the mid 1970s. India Navigation leased Air Song for their release. No idea about the remastering.

24-bit remasters of many (if not all of these) were released in Japan several years ago. Nice to see them made more widely available again, and at domestic prices. Perhaps Candid will eventually get around to all of these (more Dickerson, a nice Ted Curson session, Muhal's AFRISONG...)

On the subject of Air: The same concern that did the previous Japanese reissues pf Why Not also reissued some things from Trio Records, including Air's Air Raid, which to my knowledge never received American issue. The late Red Trumpet used to carry that whole line of reissues.

FWIW, if the reissue is any indication, the cover art of Air Raid was used for the IN issue of Air Song.

I was told by one artist that he never saw any money from the last Why Not CD issues. Is there any reason these will be any better? There's nothing worse than complementing an artist about a disc you want him/her to autograph, only to hear them say, "I never got paid a dime for that".

Two Dickerson albums right Joe? Tell Us Only The Beautiful Things and 1976? I would absolutely love to hear these.

Yep yep. Superb work by Wilbur Ware on both recordings as well.

A number of Why Not recordings are being reissued in February. http://www.cduniverse.com/sresult.asp?styl...ch_Info=Why+Not

Haven't heard the George Cables, but Air Song and Tell Us Only the Beautiful Things are highly recommended (at least by me), and Morning Prayer is probably my favorite Chico Freeman.

The George Cables album is very nice too. Like you I can thoroughly recommend all these releases and it will be very nice to have them back in circulation again after all these years.
