colinmce Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) I was wondering if anyone had access to or could link me to some sort of Mosaic discography that is more comprehensive than the list of OOP sets on the official website. I would be curious to know when each of these past boxes came out, and when they ceased being available. Edited April 5, 2009 by colinmce Quote
mellowT Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 I've found a continuous archive of the Mosaic Records web site at this address. Not all of the early archives are complete, so I tend to reference this one from Aug 2001 the most, followed by Jan 2004 and Oct 2006. They have all the discographies of sets that were still available then, in addition to the excellent marketing blurbs. Some even have music clips that still work (like the full samples of Elvin Jones). What I haven't figured out is exactly how many copies of each set were sold. I've never seen Mosaic Records publish this information. I also wouldn't mind knowing what left-over stock Scott Wenzel currently has for sale. I have to inquire about specific items, and I'm usually wrong about their availability. Quote

Ken Dryden Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I would think that specific sales figures would be considered proprietary information by Mosaic. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 The Complete Blue Note Sam Rivers Sessions for $48 :excited: The Complete Blue Note Sam Rivers Sessions What a deal that was. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Also looking at the discographies for both The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan - Wayne Shorter Sessions and The Complete Vee Jay Wynton Kelly - Paul Chambers Sessions and thinking damn I wish I had them, even with all those alternate takes. colinmce Posted April 8, 2009 Author Report Posted April 8, 2009 Thanks. Those archived links go a long way in answering some of my questions. Looking at this, I can't help but feel I've missed out on the majority of the good sets (got into jazz 2 years ago). There are only a couple big boxes on my wishlist from the current pack. Quote
