Great quote! Doing an Afterglow this week that features his recordings with singers (mostly on Capitol late 1950s/early 1960s, plus some later stuff with Mel Torme). Happy b-day to Mr. Shearing. :party:

I don't have many of his recordings but have always really dug that one he made with Carmen McRae, Two for the Road.

Neil Swainson, his long time bassist, told me during the 2008 IAJE that George was getting forgetful, so he evidently has retired from performing. But it was a nice long run...Happy Birthday, George!
