GA Russell Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'm ready for bed. I'm listening to Coltrane's Side Steps on lala, and I'm just waiting for the disc to end. Quote
AndrewHill Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Well, up playing Trivial Pursuit when I should be in bed Quote
ghost of miles Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 Once again reading the Monk biography round about midnight. Up to 1956--just keeps getting more and more interesting. Touched by the description around pg. 195-196 of Monk as friend/mentor/father-figure. Quote
AndrewHill Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Well up playing poker tonight when I should be in bed Quote
ghost of miles Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 Set the clock back an hour at 12:57 a.m. and experienced midnight for the second time in one evening. For some reason I'm reminded of the Stephen Wright joke about putting instant coffee in his microwave and going back in time. Quote
AndrewHill Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 All night poker fest...when I should be in bed Quote
ghost of miles Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Working on Night Lights/Afterglow stuff, drinking Mexican coffee, listening to Wadada Leo Smith. Quote
ghost of miles Posted December 11, 2009 Author Report Posted December 11, 2009 On vacation now and staying up later and later, reading and listening to jazz. It's great, but I can't seem to make myself go to sleep... Quote
Matthew Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Sitting in front of my laptop computer at 2:00a.m., in a Super 8 Motel, in Tucson, AZ, catching up on email, wishing I could get tired. I lead such an exciting life. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Goodness! I don't even stay up 'til midnight on New Year's Eve, nowadays. MG Quote
Matthew Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 It would be nice to be able to go right back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. Still, I got some Artie Shaw going, which is nice. Quote
papsrus Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Going to be up for a while, again. Have some Dolphy on now -- Last Date. Thinking about a midnight snack. Some leftover pizza in the fridge. Quote
ghost of miles Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Oscar Peterson, disc 4 of the Pablo box for me--having just ransacked my study closet for a pair of stocking holders which turned out to be in the upstairs closet...and now there's a floor full o' crap to be organized (I can't say re-organized, because it definitely wasn't organized in the first place). papsrus Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Moving on to some Bud Powell, Compete Verve. Tremendous, mind-blowing stuff on this first disc ('49) with Roach and Brown. Quote
Brad Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Going to be up for a while, again. Have some Dolphy on now -- Last Date. Thinking about a midnight snack. Some leftover pizza in the fridge. Did you have it cold? I remember working on some deals where we'd order in dinner but still be here at 3 in the morning working away. Cold pizza was delicious at that time of the night. Also cold Chinese rice is great too Quote
Matthew Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Just sitting here, watching Around The Horn, wishing I could go to sleep again. It would be nice if ATH would get some new blood... Quote

Matthew Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Why can't the East Coast be on the same time as California? I hate flights back east, way too early in the morning. Quote
BruceH Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Why can't the East Coast be on the same time as California? I hate flights back east, way too early in the morning. I think it has something to do with the Earth being a sphere. Damn round Earth.... Quote
