ghost of miles Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Staying at home, catching up on some reading (and here's some Labor Day music for you)... what about the rest of the folks around here? Quote
DukeCity Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 A weekend full of wedding gigs, so not really a holiday weekend, but profitable. Quote
7/4 Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 (edited) Visiting with my parents (locally), hanging with my friends. Just another weekend... ... Edited September 5, 2009 by 7/4 Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 In honor of the state of labor in this country, I'll be...laboring. Off today, then back to the salt mines. Quote
Tim McG Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Moved my son back into his dorm room. I must have schlepped a half ton of stuff up three flights today. Ugh. A labor-intensive weekend so far. Quote
Van Basten II Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Watching tennis, cleaning up the yard . Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Watching tennis, cleaning up the yard . My coverage ended with CBS at 7pm and I don't have the Tennis Channel . Having my labor day cookout tonight and I got busted out first out in my own poker tournament tonight. Quote
Free For All Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Trying to get over the flu. Most of the symptoms are gone, but there's a lingering cough that just won't go away. Not how I anticipated spending this weekend. Quote
sidewinder Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Trying to get over the flu. Most of the symptoms are gone, but there's a lingering cough that just won't go away. I hear you ! Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. And some ! Sore throat and runny eyes by any chance? Get well soon. Quote

Not how I anticipated spending this weekend. I'm right there with you. The flu symptoms have subsided with the Tamiflu I'm taking, but this dry cough is driving me up the wall. Quote
paul secor Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Just a relaxed weekend. Probably a couple of walks with my wife and hitting a book sale that someone in the area has advertised. Quote
Patrick Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Paint the fence in the backyard. Clean up. Celebrate the wedding anniversary with a low key dinner at Ray's The Steaks. Perhaps look at some photos from 17 years ago, but definitely not the amateur VHS. Quote
medjuck Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Having some people over today so spending the morning cooking jambalaya, making lemonade and a cake. Actually my wife is making the cake, a friend is making the jambalaya so all I'm doing is squeezing lemons. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Nothing special but since its the unofficial end of summer, I thought it would be nice to actually fire up the grill for some barbecue chicken. I expect though that my wife will be very pleased when she comes home from her Mom's tomorrow morning - I spent most of today doing an over-and-above normal housecleaning, including mopping the floors and doing something she mentioned wanting to do when she has the time, emptying the kitchen shelves and cleaning them. I just love surprising her with things like that. Quote
AndrewHill Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Another BBQ, more tennis and another poker tournament. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 This is my first Labor day off in five years, so I'm gonna fire up the grill and cook a bunch of stuff, listen to some tunes and just chill. Quote
DukeCity Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 This is my first Labor day off in five years, so I'm gonna fire up the grill and cook a bunch of stuff, listen to some tunes and just chill. Even though I worked all weekend, I have tomorrow off. We picked up some grass-fed ground beef at the Farmers Market, so we're going to be grilling tomorrow! Quote
vajerzy Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Cutting the grass- checking the honey bee hives, bottling some honey, grilling this evening- getting ready for school tomorrow! Quote
Shawn Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Air Conditioning. Relaxation. Music. Maybe a movie or two. Quote
WorldB3 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 With the bay bridge down I decided to stay put all weekend. Goals so far and completed: Re-string and oil the fretboards of my 3 guitars, hikes with the dog and wife, listen to jazz vinyl and read the Bob Spitz Beatles bio. Quote
sal Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 My girlfriend gets back from her trip today, so we'll be grilling some sausages, opening a bottle of wine and relaxing to some tunes and maybe a DVD later. Life is good! Quote
papsrus Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Went to the beach with some friends Sunday. Packed. Lots of brightly colored umbrellas and tents. Spent a little time on a sandbar off the beach soaking in the scene, floating in the surf. Did some kite flying with the kids. Capped off the day at the beach listening to a sunset drum ceremony (very primal, a tradition here) and, after getting back from the beach, sushi and a game of scrabble. Spent the early part of today just splashing around the pool at a nearby hotel where friends were staying and noshing on finger food. Going to just relax and listen to music tonight, maybe keep an eye on the Noles-Canes to see if a football game breaks out. (Dan, you're a sly one!) Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Yeah, and she hasn't said anything yet either. Quote
Adam Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Angel City Jazz Festival yesterday and today... Quote
Aggie87 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Did some kayaking on Town Lake Lady Bird Lake in Austin this weekend with my kids, and spent the day yesterday out at Krause Springs. I dig that place. Also had some great food at my favorite Mexican food dive there, Antonio's (which reopened on the north side of town again finally). Was tempted to go out and see The Cult at Stubb's on Saturday, but didn't make it. Quote
