mjzee Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Does anyone have a cover shot of the Art Farmer album on Argo, "Perception"? It's one of the sessions included in the Mosaic box. Thanks in advance. Quote
tkeith Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Does anyone have a cover shot of the Art Farmer album on Argo, "Perception"? It's one of the sessions included in the Mosaic box. Thanks in advance. I have the Argo reissue, but it's one of those that looks as if they made a bad photo copy of the original then used that for the cover. You can't even make out that it's Art holding his trumpet. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) I have that bad photocopy. Ditto. The print quality on that one would make a home-made Sun Ra Saturn LP look like something from Music Matters. All of those 70s Argo reissues by Cadet seem to have that problem. The only one I have which is reasonably legible (and in colour) is the 'Meet The Jazztet.' Ah well - they were cheap.. Edited October 11, 2009 by sidewinder Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Let me clarify - I got a CDR of that session years ago, it was accompanied by a photocopy of the photocopy cover. Thus I have a worse photocopy of Art holding his trumpet. Quote

Jim R Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I was gonna say... Art is not holding his trumpet on "Perception". But I've seen some absolutely butchered versions of this: Quote

I immediately thought they were bootlegs, and was amazed there were legit LPs inside. I think I had Benny Golson's "Free." Thanks! Quote
JSngry Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 The really yucky ones were the ones that had the front cover on the front and on the back. Quote
randyhersom Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 How do you keep a tenor saxophonist busy for an hour or two? Quote
JSngry Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Tell them sthat some music store "in the area" was cleaning their warehouse and discovered 50 boxes of LaVoz reeds that look like they're frrom the early 1970s? Quote
randyhersom Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Ah so the old "cover on both sides" trick doesn't work after all! Anybody tried it on a drummer? Quote
