chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez
omg i didnt get it but oh how i wanted to: saw it avail. on the cheap as a new reissue under a diff. title/cover/label--- has this one been rehashed a lot? the one i saw today was original. is this record a forum favourite? i love gerry wiggins a whole bunch. i went for quantity instead of quality as i always do, got some weird japanese themed jimmy mcgriff on SUE, some other stuff, oh and my big score was a white label jethro tull passion play edited-for-radio-use-only lp, but this threads about gerry, so...... The Magnificent Goldberg
It's really terrible to go into a place and you can't make up your mind. If the McGriff you got was "Topkapi", which is what it sounds like - bad move. I think I might have gone for the Wiggins, especially as it's Tampa #1. But I don't know the record at all. mikeweil
Tampa #1? In my old Bruyninckx disco I can find only Tampa # 33 by Wiggins, with Joe Comfort and Bill Douglas, from 1956. If you dig Wig ... can't be that bad.
Big Beat Steve
I have a VSOP facsimile reissue of that Wig Tampa TP-33 and also seem to remember (discography isn't on hand right now) that this one actually was a rehash INDEED. IIRC its contents match those of "Wiggin With Wig" on the DIG label owned by Johnny Otis. And apparently the DIG release is the original. brownie
Tampa #1? In my old Bruyninckx disco I can find only Tampa # 33 by Wiggins, with Joe Comfort and Bill Douglas, from 1956. Greetings, Mike! The Lord Discography lists Tampa TP1 as Gerry Wiggins' 'The Loveliness of You' which came out originally on Motif as 'Reminiscin' With Wig'. Another Motif album that came out on Tampa was Max Albright 'Mood for Max' with Wiggins, John Anderson, Buddy Collette and others...

JSngry
Sounds to me like he came in, noodled around a little while they recorded him, and then it got spliced it up and put it in as needed. Definitely a curiosity and not something to get all cummy about, trust me!
