AllenLowe Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 just went to the eye guy and they want me to try digital progressive lenses - I have really bad eyesight (very nearsighted) and difficulty at night in particular. This whole thing is apparently new and they think it will help a lot. Anybody else out there try digital progressive lenses? Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 go analog. digital can be so fatiguing. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 They work best when you outline the lenses with a green sharpie. Quote
JSngry Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Wait for the Sight Augmenting Corneal Devices. Why settle for less when you can have more? Quote
porcy62 Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 A serious question: did you already use progressive lenses? Quote
jazzbo Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 The manufacturing process seems to have real promise of creating very accurate and optimal lenses. http://www.ecpmag.com/1webmagazine/2008/10oct/content/through_the_lens/understanding-digital-lenses.asp If you trust your doctor's judgment and he uses a lab which he is confident makes superior lenses, then I'd consider them. (If your budget does not allow, I wouldn't worry that you're missing TOO much, but who knows). Quote
AllenLowe Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) well, they're a little bit more but the doctor, who I like but don't know well, thinks they'll help a lot with some night-vision issues I'm having. yes, I have progressive lenses now - I hope they don't use too much noise reduction. AllenLowe Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 it's either this or a digital seeing eye dog. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I can't deal with progressive lenses, so I doubt these would get a nod from me, but if you're used to progressive already, sounds like it might be worth a try. Quote

AllenLowe Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 after doing some research (and hearing you guys' comments) I've decided to cancel the order - though more for the way the eye office pressured me than for anything else (the optometrist was a real schmuck and made, I realized later, some very contradictory comments). I may still do it, but am going elsewhere for now. Quote
