Jazzmoose Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Well, if we're going to get into that, I'd say the night I stayed up to see the moon landing is still my number one. Quote
mikelz777 Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) Another "not a TV show" moment. This must be one of my earliest memories because I was all of 3 years old at the time but it was the JFK funeral with the caisson rolling through the streets of Washington DC. I was too young to understand what was going on of course but I clearly remember being upset that they were showing the Kennedy proceedings rather than whatever show it was that I normally enjoyed watching at that time. I'm sure it was unforgettable to most people for a very different reason. Edited July 3, 2010 by mikelz777 Quote
BillF Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) I have an American friend, now resident here, who recalls seeing the McCarthy hearings on television at the age of 11! She recalls that adults were riveted by it, yet unprepared to talk about it. Edited July 3, 2010 by BillF Quote
BeBop Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I haven't watched TV (or movie or video or whatever) since 1978. But I'll never forget, as a kid, Trouble with Tribbles, on Star Trek. We didn't have television at home. The kid I watched it with went on to be an (I guess) big comic book art guy (with a movie spinoff). Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 The episode of All in the Family when Mike and Gloria move out of the Bunker home before moving to LA. I remember watching it in college with my roomate and desperately trying not to cry in front of my friend. He broke the tension by saying "let's get high before we both start bawling." Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 I went for about 15 years without a TV. It was great. Then I moved in with my girlfriend, who had other ideas. But she had a great record collection, so it was worth sacrificing my principles. Quote
JSngry Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 That's some badass section playing. The episode of All in the Family when Mike and Gloria move out of the Bunker home before moving to LA. Chuck Nessa Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 "Hot Water Soup" scene on an old Green Acres episode. Eb was killin'. Quote
BeBop Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 I haven't watched TV (or movie or video or whatever) since 1978. Man, Fox Mulder should investigate you. Kind of sad when I have to resort to a web search to understand a comment related to American culture from someone in Italy. There's definitely a downside here! Quote
