paul secor Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 I like William Parker, but the organ on the clips sounds kind of roller rinkish to me. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Thanks for posting this. I ordered my copy. Quote
mjazzg Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 and another thanks from me. Ordered mine too Quote
Dave James Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 I like William Parker, but the organ on the clips sounds kind of roller rinkish to me. I listened to the clips. Oddly compelling music. The next number will be all skate in reverse. Quote
Tom Cat Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 yeah i was hanging around on the aum fidelity web and noticed that CD, eveni thought the cover was pretty cool but i listened the clips and didn't convinced me Quote
mjazzg Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 enjoying my first run through this disc. As soulful as anything WP's recorded before and pretty damn funky too. I like the organ sound - yes a bit 'rinky' but I wonder whether Cooper-Moore's sticking with the upper register to avoid WP's bass lines Quote
PHILLYQ Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Granted Aum Fidelity is in brooklyn and so am I, but I ordered it on Monday morning and it was in my mailbox on Tuesday! Great service. Hopefully I'll get to listen to it soon... Quote

Hopefully I'll get to listen to it soon... I ordered on Friday and dropped through my letterbox in London, UK on wednesday - very impressive service (US post as well) Quote
PHILLYQ Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 I'm listening to it now, it's verrrrry soulful with quite a solid groove. I'd recommend it to any organ aficionados and there are many here. Quote
mikefok Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I am always a big fan of William Parker!! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Listening to the samples. Does the "organist" ever change registrations or does he stay on that one the whole CD? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I'm curious to hear Cooper-Moore play the organ, though I don't doubt his conception is quite far from where a greazy modern-jazz organ player would take it. C-M is a pianist who also builds instruments of his own design, as well as playing flute. Check out his Cedar Box Recordings solo disc on Aum/50 Miles of Elbow Room if you get a chance. C-M was like a surrogate father to me while I lived in NY briefly. He is a kind man. Quote
BFrank Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 The clips I'm hearing sound VERY interesting. Not "rinky" at all, unless you want to call Larry Young "rinky". Quote
BFrank Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Got the album from Aum. There is that thinness to the organ sound, but when listening to the entire cuts, it works. Quote
