David Ayers Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 I'd've got away with it too if it hadn't been for you pesky kids. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Now that corrections have been made, what are you drinking? Quote
David Ayers Posted October 8, 2010 Author Report Posted October 8, 2010 Milk. No cookies, sadly. Quote

Van Basten II Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Data Cds ???? A bit confused , how do we play these ? Quote
B. Clugston Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Data Cds ???? A bit confused , how do we play these ? Since they will likely be covered in glue, you won`t be able to. Quote
JSngry Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Data Cds ???? A bit confused , how do we play these ? Assuming there's no m3u type playlist file created for them, any way you want to. These are not "play" discs, they are data discs, meaning that the cuts - the individual files, the data - are yours to do with what you please. Quote

7/4 Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 I'm still confused. sounds like they're flac files. Quote
bertrand Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 On a related note, the complete Blue Note recordings 1939-2010 will be available on a thumb drive for you to purchase for Xmas. Bertrand. Quote
JSngry Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) I'm still confused. sounds like they're flac files. I can't see where these are being "oficially" released, so they might even be hi-quality MP3s. I've mentioned before how I've seen big bunches of the Prestige catalog being offered at diffrent Half Price outlets for $5.95. Those were MP3 files. I think they fit all of Miles Prestige output on two DVD-Rs. Same For Trane. No notes, no artwork, just track listings. But $5.95, and two discs. Edited October 9, 2010 by JSngry Quote
Van Basten II Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 I'm still confused. sounds like they're flac files. If they were flac files they'd take more than 6 cds Quote
BFrank Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Where do they come from? They can't be Sony releases. Quote
JSngry Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Probably from somewhere where "legal ramifications" are not an immediate concern.... Note, however, that it is not "albums", or even a "set" that is being sold. It's just a collection of data files. If it's a pure data disc, it won't play unless there is a user command somewhere after insertion. Otherwise, it'll just open up on your D-Drive (ow whatever drive you have the disc in) & you'll see this jumbo list of files. Period. Quote
David Ayers Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) The plot thickens. On amazon.co.uk this is listed as a Sony release, without a price, linking to an mp3 or Cd alternative which is - the complete studio recordings with Gil Evans. Hmmm.... maybe I got this wrong... JSngry Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Metaphorically? hmmm..... Yeah, I'll allow it. Quote
