Shawn Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Yeah, I just saw that, very depressing. I'm going to play his solo from this classic track to celebrate his memory: Thin Lizzy - Still In Love With You Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 Oh, I thought you guys were talking about the TV show host. Quote
Dave James Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) That's weird. I was just listening to Parisienne Walkways last night. Moore certainly carved out a more successful post-Lizzy career than, say, Phil Lynott. Another one bites the dust. I'm starting to feel really old. R.I.P. Edited February 8, 2011 by Dave James Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 His first group Skid Row was great. Real blues sound on all their songs. Great musician. RIP Gary. Quote
sidewinder Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Blimey, it's only about a week ago that I was watching him on that Thin Lzzy BBC documentary. Sad news - RIP. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 That's too bad. Always liked the first G-Force lp. That opening guitar solo on White Knuckles/Rockin' and Rollin' has to be one of the best e-v-e-r. It's insane. edit: found it on YouTube. Woa! Quote
jmjk Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 I loved the solo on his version of The Yardbirds "Shapes Of Things". RIP, Gary. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Does this mean Peter Green gets his Les Paul back? Seriously though, who would have thought that Green would outlive Moore? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 All these years I thought I'd seen him in concert, but a quick check of the internet shows that he left Thin Lizzy a few weeks before I saw them in Chicago in '79. Quote
sidewinder Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Looks like he also did a jazzy stint with Jon Hiseman and Collosseum II back in the mid-70s. I'd forgotten that ! Quote
7/4 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Gary Moore fans rage at Britain's Sun tabloid for cause of death speculation. I thought the original Sun story was highly speculative. Bah! Quote
sidewinder Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Bloody Sun. Total waste of newsprint that so-called 'paper'. Fit for latrine use only. Quote
Shawn Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 LOVE this song! Never seen this live version before, featuring Phil Lynott (who sang on the studio version). Quote
sheldonm Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 sad deal...way too young! RIP Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 LOVE this song! Never seen this live version before, featuring Phil Lynott (who sang on the studio version). That certainly is...pedestrian. Quote
EKE BBB Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 Believe it or not, I missed this thread and didn't notice Gary Moore had passed some months ago. Though not a fan of his post-Thin Lizzy work, I do love most of the classics by the Irish band, such as "Whiskey In The Jar", "Jailbreak" & "The Boys Are Back In Town". Quote
