To my ears the tonality of the discs that were mastered by Alan Yoshida is better than the tonality of the CD-layers of the hybrid SACDs that were mastered by Steve Hoffman. EyeSpeech Posted March 2, 2011 Report Share Posted March 2, 2011 I can agree with that by a hair on some titles--but don't let them hear you say that at stevehoffman.tv or they'll grab the pitchforks and torches and come after you. Holistically I find the SACDs give the impression of live dynamics, details and overtones that makes the XRCD sound a touch flat in comparison. Anyhow, it's a moot point on this title. The four tracks with Seldon Powell are all three minutes or less and presumably intended for release as 45s. Pleasant but nothing special.
