Didn't honestly think there were five CDs worth but I've 'got' (note:own) the EMI C20th double which is dandy. But will it have the amazing songs for Fleming or the short violin work for Mutter?

One thing about the Toscanini Collection is that there is a pressing problem where the 1953 live version of Beethoven Eroica is repeated twice instead of the 1949 studio version (on CD1). Sony appears to be aware of this, so the Amazon.com set will *probably* be corrected. One can only hope. People who have already ordered from Amazon.co.uk are hoping that there will be a way to contact Sony (or possibly Amazon) to get the one disc fixed (as with the Glenn Gould set) rather than returning the entire thing. Not sure anyone else on the board was impacted, but I can post my experiences if I do find out how to get a corrected disc.

It took a while, but Sony has waken up to the fact that Disc 1 had the wrong Eroica Symphony on it. They have started replacing them (rather than asking for the entire set back). So a happy ending (so long as they don't balk at sending to Canada -- I ordered through Amazon.co.uk). I believe the sets ordered through Amazon.com already have the corrected CD 1.

I have some of the Martinon Debussy performances on LPs. Now I had to order the CDs. Thanks, folks.

More like not good enough! Unless you're a Boulez completist, PB's CBS recordings are far preferable to the DG and tho' it seems the recent-ish Sony bargain boxes are out of print, these aren't rare cds (or lps) in various guises.

Get the classic Webern box (definitely not the lame DG remake), ALL his Schoenberg and the two Varese while you're at it.

If anyone want some froggy Ravel piano to go with their Martinon and complement Marcelle Meyer, Robert Cassadesus and Samson Francois...

jean-Phillippe Collard's set is excellent, underrated--

also, the Percy Grainger box on Chandos would kill at nearly any price, let alone $65--

Boulez Debussy/Ravel set also on way from DG. Not old historical enough for you guys maybe.

I've followed Boulez through the dg period and the records correspond to the many performances I've attended. So for me it's the last twenty years that are my Boulez centre of gravity. Everyone should hear both Columbia and dg recordings, why is it a choice? It's most all on Spotify so anyone can access all of it immediately.

If anybody missed the fantastic Stravinsky "Miniatures" CD of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on DG, it has been recently reissued on Brilliant, available at European amazons for about €5-6.

Fauré - Complete Chamber Music for Strings and Piano (5CD) - €9.54 on amazon.it

Haven't heard it but read a very favorable review and gave it to my mother as a gift (cost three times as much three months ago!) - probably she was too busy to listen yet, but at this price, I'll just get it for me as well anyway!

That baroque box looks excellent, btw! A nice companion to the "Lumières" box, I'm sure.
