Hardbopjazz Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Anyone know anything about this CD? There are 96 live tracks on this box. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 26, 2011 Author Report Posted November 26, 2011 I guessing it is a boot too. I just would like to know what is on the 10 CDs. Every site that list this box has no information. Is it from the 50s, 60s or mixed? Who's playing with Silver. But for 30 USD it may be worth getting, even though I don't like boots, but I do like Horace Silver. Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted November 26, 2011 Author Report Posted November 26, 2011 It sure does. But it was billed as 96 live tracks. Quote
JSngry Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Well, I'm sure that everybody was alive when they were playing, so in that sense... Here's a shot of the back cover from Amazon: The website http://www.12entertainment.nl (if I'm reading that correclty) does not exist (or if it does, it's not available through my ISP). Nevertheless, there is, of course, a "series" of these things: http://www.naylerco...._Series_CD.html Lest there be any doubt t that these are well-crafted, intelligent PD issues guaranteed to elevate the music and the understanding thereof: Freudian slip, perhaps. chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 im startin to friggin hate these releases...but on the other hand....is the music getting distributed to people any better now that its all free n easy? im not convicned. see them for regular prices at the one brick n moartar recordstore, is that what you call them. when i see them for .99 cents at safeway at the checkout aisle, i will be impressed. 1st thing i notice is, whats up with the old "compact disc" logo like that in the upper left corner? looks so like a 1983 CD, i like it! how are these things mastered. are they seriously ripping a cd of the stuff to use as their master. or is it more complex than that on any level. i actually am all for it, in this day n age its hard to collect all those albums. if this helps young kids learn about horace, im all for it. you cant go one by one anymore. takes too long to aquire em all. this set is good if it spreads the word easier. but it needs to be available in different places, not just the dead old lp store. it needs to be, as i said in supermarket checkout aisles with the packs of gum. not is not degrading it. its like oh , lets pick up a pack of gum, and this horace silver cd. mikeweil Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 is this impling that Hank is the one who killed Lee? Probably not - just an odd choice for a cover photo. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 what the hell. so they couldnt get the rights to use the original cover photo, they didnt wanna use the band 70s issue painting-cover.....so theyre all: we need to design a new photo, what should we use? and some genius does 5 seconds of lee morgan research, and this is the result Quote
