Dan Gould Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Seems to me sometimes that the explosion of album cover threads shows that we're running out of things to talk about ... Quote
JSngry Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Sometimes looking is better than talking. It's definitely a different mode of communication. Just as the best way to experience music is to hear it, perhaps the best way to experience an album cover is by viewing it. If nothing else, I find it entertaining and/or amusing how many "themes" cover designers have worked with, and how it can be broken down into a lot of variations on not all that many themes...just like music, literature, or anything else, really! The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 I like 'em. I agree with Jim but also, sometimes I find something I didn't know I could get while seaching for something else. Recently, I found downloads of Maa Hawa Kouyate and Soundioulou Cissokho that I didn't know were available on Amazon UK. MG Quote
paul secor Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 I hardly ever look at them. For me, they're a waste of my time. Just my opinion. Quote
Shawn Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 I know the idea has been shot down numerous times but it would make a helluva lot more sense if they were all collected together in one place. It's not like they don't already exist, so creating a separate location for them isn't really changing a thing except organizing the site more logically. Quote
jeffcrom Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 I only look at a few of them, but hey - if other folks enjoy 'em, they're fine with me. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 Or is that "The Winning Poles"? Quote
Hot Ptah Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 They seem like harmless fun to me. I don't know why something that is fun needs to be controlled and squelched. Now if we were discussing an explosion of hate-filled threads full of irrational conflict, insutls and disrepectful behavior, I would say, let's do something about it. But since these album cover threads have no negative content to them, and there is plenty of room on the board--they are not eliminating scarce space needed for something more significant--why do anything about them? But since these album cover threads have no negative content to them, and there is plenty of room on the board--they are not eliminating scarce space needed for something more significant--why do anything about them? What makes you think anyone is trying to control or squelch anything, or that its been asserted that anything should be done about album cover threads? This was a lighthearted attempt to guage the opinion of the members about these threads and nothing else. I was simply curious if others skip over some or most of these threads or if they love each and every one of them. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 8, 2013 Report Posted February 8, 2013 There's a place for everything. The covers are simply fun to look at, when I'm looking for serious information, I go to other threads. It's that simple. Quote
