ghost of miles Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 I just purchased a used copy of the MJQ's Live at the Lighthouse--in "good" condition (only $6, so not complaining about what follows), Wounded Bird CD reissue. The CD is spotless, but the liner-note booklet had gotten wet at some point and was sealed together... despite my best attempts to steam it open, it came apart in such a manner as to make much of it illegible. Does anybody have said CD, and would they be able to send me a scan or Xeroxes of the liners? I'm working on a Night Lights show about recordings made at the Lighthouse after 1960... thanks much in advance for any help that you might be able to offer. Quote
felser Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Lee Morgan 'Live at the Lighthouse' was in my first jazz purchase, along with a 2 LP Herbie Hancock Blue Note Collection. And the Jazz Crusaders LP's done there in the 60's are nice. I wore out "Absolutions" on that Morgan album. Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 25, 2015 Author Report Posted June 25, 2015 Right now I'm looking at possibly using music from the Morgan release, the Jazz Crusaders, Elvin Jones, Joe Henderson, Grant Green, Curtis Amy, and Cannonball Adderley, Quote
mjzee Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Wikipedia has a list of recordings done at the Lighthouse. While researching, I also found this intriguing JazzWax entry regarding Art Pepper in 1952. Quote
sonnymax Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 If you choose the picture of the back cover and move your mouse over the image (don't click on it), you can easily read the liner notes.http://www.ebay.com/itm/MJQ-Live-At-The-Lighthouse-1967-Soul-Jazz-LP-vinyl-Record-Album-/221380503690 Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 26, 2015 Author Report Posted June 26, 2015 Thank you, Sonnymax--very helpful! I contacted Wounded Bird, but they have no replacement booklets left. Quote
sidewinder Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) How about Charles Earland's 1972 performance recorded by Prestige? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_the_Lighthouse_(Charles_Earland_album) Edited June 26, 2015 by sidewinder Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 26, 2015 Author Report Posted June 26, 2015 Sidewinder, I've got so much material assembled for this show that I'm already contemplating a sequel! Here's a "prequel" of sorts, done a long, long time ago: The Lighthouse All-Stars Quote
