Peter Friedman Posted July 3, 2018 Report Posted July 3, 2018 This CD shares a feature found on almost every recording by Lateef. Parts of it are, in my view, marvelous. Soulful swinging and highly creative. Other parts are somewhat dull and uninteresting. At least part of the reason is that Yusef decided to play such a wide variety of instruments, some of which were not particularly suited to jazz. It was his tenor saxophone that could often be thrilling and gives me the most enjoyment. Quote
