Peter Friedman Posted October 13, 2018 Report Posted October 13, 2018 This CD has slipped under the radar. That is too bad as it has some truly outstanding playing on it. Barney Wilen's solo on "Solar" may well be the best I have ever heard by him, and I have almost all of his recordings. Also Dusko Goykovich plays at the very top of his form as does George Gruntz. If you like this one, there's more with him, bass and drums, and Alden (who's more than OK here). Some Van Eps from 1949. One man, one seven-string guitar. Quote

HutchFan Posted October 14, 2018 Report Posted October 14, 2018 Last night & this morning: While these LPs aren't exactly "top-shelf" Ellington, I still really enjoy them. It's good fun to hear these pop tunes being given the Ducal treatment. Quote
