(Extra material is in less good sound. . . but that's extra stuff). I was in the mood for more long tall Dexter, so I'm listening to "Live at Carnegie Hall" from Dexter Gordon "Complete Columbia Albums" box set. Quote

It sounded like a throw-back to the 1970s, a mix of synths and voices that was going on then. It's a if Byrd's A New Perspective and McCann's Invitation to Openness had a lovechild, this it what it would sound like. However, I like those kinds of things, so I enjoyed it immensely. Quote

HutchFan Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 One of DL's best, IMO. Incidentally, all Amazon Prime members can stream this music for free -- at least here in the U.S. No commercial connections here to Lieb or Amazon. ... I'm just sayin'!   Quote

Gheorghe Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 I have all Lee Morgans from the 50´s and most from the 60´s. This might be the first one, with Clarence "C" Sharp on alto. Nice little record, but the best Morgan from the 50´s I think is "The Cooker". I listen a lot to Lee Morgan right now, since our trumpet player likes him very much and on some of the last occasions we had "Ceora" in our repertory. Quote
