I love those Steeplechase live albums of Dexter. Recently listened to "I want more" which is great. "Cheese Cake" is also one I love very much.

Great record and very interesting since it seems to be the only occasions where Bud played "Stockholm" (a wonderful version) and "Satin Doll" . This is one of the most brilliant trio recordings. And the good thing is it has a drummer one can HEAR. Not like many of his mid 50´s recordings where you don´t hear what the drummer does.

Do you also have "Writin´ for Duke" on Mythic Sound, which is from the same session ? (unissued material).

John Hicks, people!  JOHN HICKS!!!

This is a new-to-me CD that I snagged from Ken Dryden's WUTC CD sell-off.  Thanks Ken!  :)

Nice!  I picked that one up in April in Princeton along with his In the Mix.  Ken is a hero around here after that sale.  I have some great stuff on the way.

Now playing:

Kenny Drew, Jr. - Winter Flower: The younger Drew has a healthy discography, but it saddens me that many of the physical discs are OOP.  He had such a full sound, both in tone and how he voiced things.
