jazzbo Posted July 29, 2019 Report Posted July 29, 2019 "Duke Ellington Presents" Bethlehem/Verse Records cd A favorite. Quote
Justin V Posted July 30, 2019 Report Posted July 30, 2019 This has been getting a lot of play since I picked it up two weeks ago. It looks like I'll need to get at least the twofer of Monk and Coltrane's 1957 sessions to get the rest. Lord knows what is included in the various versions of the Monk box and whether they use the mono takes included on this disc. Quote

Coda Posted July 30, 2019 Report Posted July 30, 2019 It's a keeper for me. More melodic than free, great interplay between all. I had trouble identifying Jacob vs Bill at times. Craig Taborn is reserved. I think they're all giving Jacob a lot of room to express himself. Quote
