Talk about a hole in my collection! I'll have to rectify that, maybe with that solo date, which I didn't previously know about. Now playing: Ray Drummond - Camera in a Bag: Coincidentally, I think that the last time I saw Drummond was with Harris and Leroy Williams in Detroit. I wish that I could have seen the whole set because the trio was in fine form. Drummond had a string of excellent leader dates. This one has 'Fathead' Newmam, Steve Nelson, Kenny Barron and Marvin 'Smitty' Smith. Quote

I haven't heard that Criss Cross record, but I think ALL of Drummond's Arabesque releases are top-shelf! (IIRC, there are four of them.) 6 hours ago, Coda said: Edited August 6, 2019 by HutchFan Quote

jazzbo Posted August 6, 2019 Report Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) Been on quite a musical journey today. Started with the 3 Sounds "Moods" on an 80th Anniversary Japanese Blue Note cd Followed by the XRCD of Johnny Griffin "The Little Giant." Then Duke Pearson's "It Could only Happen with You" on a Japanese Blue Note EMI cd. Then Carlos Santana and Alice Coltrane "Illumination" on the Vocalion Dutton SACD. Finally right now Keith Jarrett Trio "Up for It" on ECM cd. Edited August 6, 2019 by jazzbo Quote

Justin V Posted August 7, 2019 Report Posted August 7, 2019 Shirley Scott - Great Scott!: After recently buying the Turrentine Mosaic, I wanted to get more Scott. I then was ripping some Buck Hill last week and looked up his AllMusic credits. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw he was on a Scott album with Mickey Roker, one of my favorite drummers. This was an easy purchase decision. Quote
