Hmm. Bass (and drums) are more prominent in the mix than what you'd normally hear -- but I assumed that was a deliberate decision.  Like they were making a "rhythm record" rather than a "sax plus rhythm record" -- if that makes any sense.

Of course, de gustibus . . .

Bluesnik, you got me on that one. I don't know guitars. 

But whatever Rogers is playing, the music sounds good.

I fixed that for you.   I caught him with The Cookers earlier this year and the opening song featured a Harper solo that was 15-20 minutes of fire.  It was great, one of those moments where part of me was in disbelief at what I was witnessing.

I heard two live sets of Alfredo Rodriguez/ Pedrito Martinez (augmented on some songs by two additional Cuban percussionists) earlier this year; that was some white hot music.
