Unfortunately, I sold his super compilation An Ace Face as it was available on Spotify. Now it isn't!

Yes.

Looking back on it fifty years later, it's clear that something happened to Solal around 1970, when he released this LP.  He'd been an fantastic pianist for a long time, but "suddenly" he's an amazing artist.  A master, even.

Or at least that's the impression I get from listening to the records.  Of course, records don't tell the whole story.  But they do tell a story.

Spent the day with my Dad, two medical appointments and a leisurely lunch in between and then a bit in his apartment doing things he saves for me to do. I'm so lucky to still have him with us, he's one of my best friends as well as my loving father.

On the way there I listened to Monday Michiru "Moods"
 

and on the way back to Betty Roche "Lightly and Politely"

Both are intriguing singers with their own style.

Now that I'm home I put on another intriguing singer with her own style, and two talented hands on a piano, Tania Maria, this one "VIa Brasil, Vol.1" with her early trio.
