SFJazz Collective "Original Compositions and Works of Herbie Hancock" disc 1.

This is fast becoming one of my favorites of their many great releases. I think it's because of Rene and Bobby.

In previous incarnations of my system I did not like this version of this release. But it sounds pretty good today.

If Austin Cromer is remembered at all, it's probably for his stint as the singer in Dizzy's big band and the classic recording of "Over The Rainbow" he made with that band.  This is a wonderful, intimate album on which he was accompanied by Chick Corea, Richard Davis, Bruno Carr and on various reeds and guitar, Hubert Laws.
