jazzbo Posted June 21, 2023 Report Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) Duke Ellington “Complete 1947-1952” CBS France 6 LP box set I noticed Dusty Groove had this French box set for 27 dollars and even though I have had this box set about seven years on LP and over 20 years on cd, I just had to order it. Turns out it is completely brand new, unplayed. Which is much better condition than the LP set I’ve enjoyed for so long. So I can certainly keep this one! Listening to LP 3 right now. GREAT music in this set. Edited June 21, 2023 by jazzbo Quote

Rabshakeh Posted June 22, 2023 Report Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) Fire! Orchestra – Echoes First listen to this. An improvement over some of the more recent Fire! records. Bohren & Der Club Of Gore – Black Earth Another first listen, more 'nu jazz' / dark ambient music. I was surprised to find that I actually liked this one, because everything else in this very internet age genre has been pretty terrible. Essentially jazz instrumentation used to make sombre soundscapes. Edited June 22, 2023 by Rabshakeh Quote

Orchestra albums more highly than the small group ones, the first one aside which I still think is great. Quote

jazzbo Posted June 22, 2023 Report Posted June 22, 2023 Eddie Condon Town Hall, Vol. 1, LP 1, Jazzology Records. Not the best sound–I think the cd edition sounds better–but a great concert with killer players! Quote
