Wow. Sounds great. The Jimi Hendrix Experience “Bold as Love” 4 cd, 1 blu-ray box set, disc 3 I've been hesitant about this. First because of the terrible cover. I understand the underlying artwork was by Jimi himself, but I don't think it works. And for a major reissue of Axis, why didn't they use the original cover art? There's almost TOO much extra music (if that's possible). Disk 2 is all Mono versions which are sometimes interesting. Disk 3 is a bunch of additional alt-takes. Disk 4 has more alt-takes plus live stuff from Stockholm, mostly from "Are You Experienced". Would be interested to get your impressions, Lon. Listened to his quite a bit today. A very energetic recording, and George Coleman is on FIRE! Quote

Covers don't matter much to me, and I actually like the dragon Jimi drew as a kid and understand why it was used (The original cover is reproduced in large format within). The original stereo mix presented here is possibly in error--it is not a new one by Grundman but from 2010 with possibly a little tweaking. That said it sounds really good. I have had the mono mix before, it is very interesting to me. And the newly released bits and pieces are very interesting to me, and sound GREAT. There was no way I was not going to get this, and I'm glad I did pre-order it. I find it interesting that the sets are numbered and I got #00420. If you stream (I don't) you should be able to preview it. Edited 6 hours ago by jazzbo Quote
jazzbo Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago First snow of the season (surprised it took this long) and 28 degrees. We got just an inch or less. We have an important appointment so as much as we’d love to hunker down in the hacienda we have to go out and brave the roads. Starting off with a favorite piano trio album before bundling up and clearing the deck, stairs and car. Keigh Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “Tokyo '96” ECM cd Quote
