A very fine Ben Webster live date at Montmatre, Copenhagen. Stellar rhythm section with Kenny Drew, NHOP and Alex Riel.

Wonderful, especially the ballads, Ben Webster is one of the great ballad players, his sound...… Incredible.

Yeah, those late-period Ben Webster recordings on Black Lion are fantastic. :tup

Been doing a lot of "comparative" listening this week, listening to different editions of the same title to decide which to keep and which to cull from the collection. Some fun, some tedium.

Today I didn't get to do any listening and then all of a sudden my wife said "I want to hear some Nat King Cole." Well my favorite Cole is the trio stuff but I know she doesn't like that, so I put on this "Pure Audio" Blu-ray Audio and she's digging it--big band stuff with that big baritone voice. . . . Realy nice 24/192 sound as well.

Wayne Shorter, Night Dreamer (Blue Note,1964) - with Lee Morgan, McCoy Tyner, Reggie Workman, Elvin Jones.

Always wondered why Tyner was relegated to "etc." on the front cover...

Fantastic Ornette Coleman, after decades again with the Original Quartet and the great Prime Tune. Some tunes are played as by the quartet as by Prime Time, which is particularly interesting.
