Holy Ghost Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago It was Vince Guaraldi and this man that got me hooked on jazz at 8 years old: Love this dude, and my wife loves him too. 10 hours ago, Peter Friedman said: 👍 8 minutes ago, Niko said: I don't know much about the Black Muslim organization Patton was a part of and the thesis is also not very precise on what exactly offended him... But, in the broader picture, there are Islamic traditions prohibiting pictures of all living things... Even though interacting with living things is completely ok... And practice looks more complex a lot of the time https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aniconism_in_Islam I think this is fair to say, given it's just a thesis and not a disseratation. Maybe some more research would benefit us....still interesting though, especially if Big John left the music buisness, just because he didn't like the packaging of his music. Quote

It's a pretty wonderful thesis though, based on the author's own interviews with Patton, Harold Alexander, Marvin Cabell, Leroy Williams, Grachan Moncur III and others and with loads of detail on things that are barely documented otherwise... There's always room for more research... Quote

There's always room for more research... Whoever is conducting this research got to talk to Marvin Cabell, GMIII, wowwww, alright, alright. Like, maybe I'll like it. No chance talking to Hugh Walker? That dude was badass, right up there with Eddie Gladden and Idris Mohamed! Edited 1 hour ago by Holy Ghost Quote
