jazzbo Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 I didn’t have my laptop with me when I did my morning listening session–I started off with the 2 cd Japanese bootleg “John Coltrante–Creation”, . . then moved on to Duke Ellington “Jazz Party in Stereo” Mobile Fidelity gold cd, then on to Dizzy Reece “Comin’ On” Blue Note Connoisseur cd. Now, hours later Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra “Handful of Keys” This is one of their good ones. Quote

My personal favorite album is the quartet with Ben Webster. Even if Tatum piano lines as accompanist are sometimes "too intrusive", I also have this boxed set in high regard. Norman Granz's mission of extensively documenting Tatum in the "Solo" and "Group Masterpieces" sets is much appreciated. And +1 for the Tatum-Webster disc as a favourite. Currently listening to Quote
jazzbo Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 (edited) It got colder overnight but so far no snow! I’m glad, my back may or may not get another day of rest and a respite from shoveling! Starting off the day with a soothing listen to Eliane Elias “Dreamer” Bluebird cd. Hard to believe this was recorded over 20 years ago. . . . Paulo Braga on drums really gives this one his special “feel.” Edited January 14 by jazzbo Quote
