I've seen quite a few of their annual performances over the years. It's an interesting project. Some years are better than others. That was a good one. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 I have all the sets but the most recent one or two . . . really like them all. Right now 22 degrees and it won’t get much warmer. Peter Friedman Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 Charlie Mariano presents an interesting mixture for me. He has and continues to be a be bopper, a beautiful ballad player, & also plays music very unappealing to me. Thankfully, this album us dominated by some very beautiful music, with just perhaps 2 tunes I can skip over. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 Tom Harrell “Light On” High Note cd Yet another great Tom Harrell on High Note. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 12 Report Posted February 12 On to disc 2 of this set, recorded at Ronnie Scott’s in London in 1969. This would be/would have been a good candidate for the Plangent Process, but still sounds quite good. Marty Morell may not be the most popular drummer that Evans hired, but he had a long tenure and I find much to admire in his drumming (I used to be a drummer myself, some years ago). A “peppier” Evans performance than many others. Bill Evans “Evans in England” Resonance Records 2 cd set disc2 300×300 7.54 KB Quote
