I woke up a bit ago and couldn’t shut my brain off. The constant dripping of water from the roof (about ten inches of snow and ice melting consistently) just outside the window from my head didn’t help me slip back into slumber. . . so I decided to get up and listen. Never a waste of time or attention to listen to music, for me at least.

Started off with Earl "Father’ Hines “Reunion in Brussels” on Red Baron cd. What a force Hines was! An endless stream of swing with passion.

Ballads For Audiophiles, Primary, 1 of 7

This seems like an odd CD title. I wonder if it is a bit of a joke. That certainly doesn't look like the setting for an "audiophile" recording and I highly doubt that an upright piano was used for it. :)

Spinning a wonderful sounding LP that was tucked in my collection passed over for listening too long. A stereo Roulette, they always seem to sound so good.

“Tyree Glen at the Embers” Roulette LP

Another great recording of Tyree with Hank Jones and Mary Osborne.

Medeski, Martin & Wood - It's a Jungle in Here (Gramavision, 1993)

I bought this CD on the day that it came out.  Then I played it so much that my wife got sick of hearing it.

And, as good as MM&W's records are/were, they were even better in concert.

A great live jazz album recorded in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Jazzhaus Montmartre in 1987.

Both the Corbett vs Dempsey reissues, not OGs. 😁
