Milestones Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Twins? Seven women (bunnies) at once? I guess it floated his boat. Quote
catesta Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 No doubt the dude that bought the house is happy. Quote
JSngry Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Has he gotten his disinfectant bill yet? Has he found all the tunnels? And oh btw, no, you will NEVER get that stain out of the carpet! Quote

JSngry Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 For the record, "the dude that bought the house" is J. Daren Metropoulos, a businessman and heir to a fortune built on Chef Boyardee meatballs, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and Bumble Bee tuna. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/28/business/media/playboy-mansion-hefner.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fobituaries&action=click&contentCollection=obituaries®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=1&pgtype=sectionfront Quote
catesta Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 He used to come on the Stern show when he was in his late teens. I think dad put an end to it though. At that time he was President of the tuna portion of business. They had an actual CEO, but still... I remember reading when he bought the house, the plan was to join it with the property next door he already owned and make one big estate. Now he can do that, and thus no doubt, is happy. Quote
JSngry Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Are meatballs a separate cost center within the Chef Boyardee Dynasty, I mean did this kid get the meatball fortune, the other kid got the pasta, and dad kept the sauce for himself? Who got the boxed pizza mix write-off? I'm thinking the NYT, god bless 'em, might have not paid enough attention to detail on that one. Best idea is to wait for the obituary. Quote
catesta Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 I think they've all moved on to Twinkies and Ho Hos. Quote

JSngry Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Personally, I find such comments quite amusing in an obituary thread! Quote
mjzee Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Hugh Hefner was obviously one of the major figures of the 20th century. One of many major figures, to be sure, but he made his impact and should get his due. This article is an thoughtful appreciation of his legacy: http://thefederalist.com/2017/09/28/hugh-hefners-legacy-is-about-more-than-sex/ And here is some more food for thought: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/09/28/hugh-hefner-death-feminism-womens-rights-215657 Quote
