I don't have any personal experience with it but a neighbor of mine recently used a container service like that. It seemed to have worked well since like you, they did not have to move all at once. It definitely is getting popular.

It's interesting that some of the freight/trucking companies also offer a similar service in which they drop a trailer at your home and you load it up, they haul it and drop it at new location. My brother did his move this way.

Anyone here have experience moving using Pods? After 34 years in our house in Michigan we will be moving to Buffalo, NY. Moving in stages, over a couple months, using Pods seems interesting.

Isn't that "out of the frying pan, into the fire" when it comes to rough winters?  I'm guessing there's family in Buffalo, or are you just allergic to Florida? ;)

Winters are about the same - here we get lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. The two options are snow or snow with grandkids.

Well, welcome to the Niagara Frontier Chuck!  Some quick trips over the border to Toronto and vice versa should be under consideration.

Yup, "beef on weck", but also real Anchor Bar chicken wings!  (And the Albright-Knox Gallery -- one of the good ones!)

I vote for grandkids, that's a no-brainer, and congratulations, and you will definitely eat more than just well, no doubt!

As for pods, this is all I know, even to this day:

Welcome to the extended neighbourhood.

We always drive from our home to Port Huron/Sarnia across Ontario to the Peace Bridge. Urinated many times at the On Route between London and Hamilton.

yeah we used a Pod last year when we moved to Baltimore. seemed to work out just fine, price was decent, they were on time with both pickup and delivery. nothing got broken or lost. i didn't enjoy packing and unpacking the Pod but that was the only negative.
