romualdo Posted June 14, 2021 Report Posted June 14, 2021 New release on the "Rhythm & Blues" label of very early SME (quartet of Stevens, Rutherford, Watts, Cale) 2CDs with a live session (Prince Albert, Greenwich, London, June 22 1966), studio session (August 66) & a 30 minute discussion/Q&A on improvised music (as part of the live concert) It's available on Amazon (even the Australian site) - good price too This may be the first SME music I've not sourced from Emanem apart from a Japanese reissue of Karyobin Quote

sidewinder Posted June 14, 2021 Report Posted June 14, 2021 (edited) The ‘Prince Albert’ - an occasional location for a pint or two when I lived in this area, back in the day. Never saw any jazz there though. Some good stuff being put out on this label but I have had playback troubles on my CD player with at least one of their disks (one of the compilations). Agree that they are very good value. Edited June 14, 2021 by sidewinder Quote

JSngry Posted June 14, 2021 Report Posted June 14, 2021 What was Yoko doing? Stopping by to talk business, or just hang out or something? Or was she just wanting her doorbell to be on the record? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 14, 2021 Report Posted June 14, 2021 she was stopping by Eddie Kramer's studio, from what I understand. Quote
Clunky Posted June 14, 2021 Report Posted June 14, 2021 This is an interesting SME session. The music is more informed by jazz than the SME were to become. In terms of approach it's closest Emanem disc would be "Withdrawl". There's Q&A with the audience which I've yet to listen to. Sound is more than acceptable Quote
