bertrand Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 This is a bootleg of a 1966 UK date with the Shaw/Washington lineup. Anyone pick this up? Quote
JSngry Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 I believe I already have it from collector circulation...is there any value added? No, wait, that's something else. Never mind Quote
bertrand Posted September 2, 2022 Author Report Posted September 2, 2022 Don't know for sure. I had not been aware of this one. In my fantasy world, all of these should come out legally but my fantasy world does not have a compartment for market realities. Quote
JSngry Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 I was thinking of the Blakey Rutgers thing. Too bad about Emerald Records. This would have been a job for them, only I don't think that Horace really dug Tyrone. Or so they say Quote

bertrand Posted September 3, 2022 Author Report Posted September 3, 2022 It was supposed to say Jazz Goes To College in the title. How do I fix that? Quote
Mark Stryker Posted September 3, 2022 Report Posted September 3, 2022 Wasn't aware of the existence of this music until this thread. A little research reveals there is actually film of the performance. Where is that? https://www.loc.gov/item/jots.200016608 Quote

They don't necessarily have a copy. Rooster told me that the story is that the tapes were wiped. Further research is needed. Quote

Gheorghe Posted September 5, 2022 Report Posted September 5, 2022 The Shaw Washington frontline might be interesting. I never heard this Tyrone Washington, Horace says in his autobiography "Get to the Nitty Gritty" that he had troubles with Washington because his playing was to far out for his hardbop stuff. But that might be interesting, I like it if horn players get a bit "one step beyond"......, But Washington seemed to have a short career, but if you have Woody ......what could be wrong ? Quote
