Don't know for sure. I had not been aware of this one. In my fantasy world, all of these should come out legally but my fantasy world does not have a compartment for market realities.

I was thinking of the Blakey Rutgers thing.

Too bad about Emerald Records. This would have been a job for them, only I don't think that Horace really dug Tyrone. Or so they say

It is in his book. He played too out for Horace.

Wasn't aware of the existence of this music until this thread. A little research reveals there is actually film of the performance. Where is that?

The disclaimer below says that the info is from the David Meeker book. They don't necessarily have a copy. Rooster told me that the story is that the tapes were wiped. Further research is needed.

Might still be worth doing the 'Ask a Librarian' thing. I am always wary when I am told something is 'lost'.

Never hurts to ask. There’s also this, fwiw:

The Shaw Washington frontline might be interesting.

I never heard this Tyrone Washington, Horace says in his autobiography "Get to the Nitty Gritty" that he had troubles with Washington because his playing was to far out for his hardbop stuff. But that might be interesting, I like it if horn players get a bit "one step beyond"......,

But Washington seemed to have a short career, but if you have Woody ......what could be wrong ?
