This is being re-released on vinyl September 15.  https://www.amazon.com/Blackstone-Legacy-Jazz-Dispensary-Shelf/dp/B0CB8Q6RRH/ref=sr_1_3?qid=1690057560&refinements=p_n_date%3A1249114011&rnid=1249111011&s=music&sr=1-3

The post-bop opus Blackstone Legacy is the seminal debut album by trumpeter Woody Shaw. Originally released in 1971 on Contemporary Records, the groundbreaking album was inspired by the sociopolitical ills of the '60s. In their review, Allmusic called the album, "...a landmark recording, and a pivot point in the history of post-modern music". This 2-LP reissue was remastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, housed in a gatefold tip-on jacket.

As always I should have been patient…. Paid way to much for a Japanese reissue. Must say it sounds so damn good I am definitely not going to replace it with this new one.

This sounded great even on US Vinyl .... of course with faultless pressing....

Btw we should talk here more about  Steve Lacy ....

let's talk about Steve - been meaning to post re two new Ictus LPs recently released "The Ictus Archives, Vols 1 & 2" - live Udine region, Italy 1976, probably Centazzo's recordings

80% (7 of 9 tracks) of both LPs is Lacy solo material, previously unreleased except for 1 track (trio with Carter & Centazzo, previously released on an Ictus CD). The SQ is stunning IMHO - I compared the previously released CD track to the vinyl version & the difference is markedly audible. Highly recommended IMHO - no CD version (as of yet?)

maybe this should be moved to a Lacy post
