Pee Wee Russell's Paintings

Recommended Posts

Yes Pee Wee painted the impulse cover.

There are around 90 paintings by him.

These were in Terry Martin's collection and his sons gave them to me.

The horizontal painting is #45. titled The Crab, painted in August, 1966.

The other one is #77, titled Turmoil, painted in February, 1967.

I believe Terry got these from the estate of Marian McPartland.

Chuck,

There was an exhibit of artwork by Pee Wee Russell and George Wettling (who had studied with Stuart Davis) at Wilkes College in 1986.  The exhibition booklet is available here:  https://www.wilkes.edu/about-wilkes/arts/sordoni-art-gallery/past-exhibitions/_assets/_pdf_archives/1986-April-27-Pee-Wee-Russelland-Geaorge-Wettling.pdf.  There's some useful information there about his paintings.

I have a copy as well as a copy of the exhibition poster.

I was only able to see the painting that is the album cover.  I like it a lot.  I did a search for more of his art and came up with this one entitled "Audience"
