The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Quick post arrived from the US for Kasse Mady - Manden djeli kan - Universal France (Wrasse) I think I've got all of his albums now - probably the greatest male vocalist from Mali and one to me mentioned in the same breath as Kouyate Sory Kandia. xybert Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 I'm really in to hard bop at the moment. It's a side of jazz that i've only really warmed to in the last couple of years, hence i have some major gaps in my collection. Some recent accuistions: Sonny Clark - Sonny's Crib Sonny Clark - Cool Struttin' Sonny Clark Trio Red Garland's Piano Wynton Kelly - Piano Kenny Drew Trio Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 After many, many years of searching for an affordable copy, I finally found a copy of Lew Tabackin's "Angelica" for under $30 at amazon.de. Now I only hope that it comes in. There's even another copy left: http://www.amazon.de/Angelica-Lew-Tabackin/dp/B008Y255T2/ref=sr_1_1/279-0380511-0524428?ie=UTF8&qid=1391624616&sr=8-1&keywords=lew+tabackin+angelica Quote

colinmce Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I also bought some Mark Whitecage today. Hope to go back for a few more from the cleanfeed sale if it's still on next week. Quote
Clunky Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 On my wish list!,, Sampling this set on Spotify, lovely although the recordings/ masterings seem to lack depth Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 The Nu Band: Live in Paris (NoBusiness) The Nu Band Live (Konnex) What We Live: Especially the Traveller Tomorrow (Metalanguage) I really like that What We Live recording. Expansive, relaxed and a great sounding recording to boot. Quote
Leeway Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I also bought some Mark Whitecage today. Hope to go back for a few more from the cleanfeed sale if it's still on next week. That Parker/Guy/Lytton/Evans is a real good one, one of the best in the Clean Feed catalogue. Quote
imeanyou Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Picked up a first stereo pressing with NY labels and Van Gelder stamp. The only copy I've ever come across in 15 years of Tokyo crate digging! Cover is in great condition and the vinyl unscratched though dusty. Music ain't bad either ! Quote

xybert Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 These look interesting... i've heard O'Niell, Eulau and Norton with Braxton on one of those 20+ Standards sets; would be really interested to hear them on some original Braxton stuff. Any thoughts? Quote

Any thoughts? The Ten Compositions disc contains more Andrew Hill, Wayne Shorter and George Coleman compositions so no original Braxton stuff here. Quote
xybert Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Whoa, very interesting. Thanks for the info. Quote
JohnJ Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Picked this up at Disk Union. The price was right, just over $40. Quote
