Bill Perkins Just Friends

Is anybody familiar with this album that was issued on Pacific, with Art Pepper and Richie Kamuca?

'Just Friends' gathered two 1956 sessions:

one with Perkins, Richie Kamuca, Hampton Hawes, Red Mitchell and Mel Lewis,

the other with Perkins, Art Pepper, Jimmy Rowles, Ben Tucker and Mel Lewis.

The session with Pepper was included in the Mosaic Art Pepper box.

Wasn't the session under Bill Perkins' leadership also included in this CD: The Artistry of Pepper?

Yes, and the Perkins/Kamuca half of the date was reissued on the PJ cd called Tenors Head On.

Thanks for the feedback. Since I have Tenors Head On, it prevented me from making a buying mistake.

Brad, if you don't have it already, you'll want to look for The Artistry of Pepper. I think it's much more interesting than Tenors Head On (which isn't a bad record), and the frontline of Perkins and Pepper is a fresh one. Well recorded too.
