mjazzg Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Quietus reporting his death. https://bsky.app/profile/thequietus.com/post/3lnk2fkwi762y The last time I saw him live about 10 years ago he wasn't in great shape but gave a stunning performance. Pere Ubu were one of the best, although I only saw a later iteration live, and his subsequent solo albums with The Wooden Birds, The Pedestrians and Two Pale Boys made a big impact on me on their release. Royal Oak Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 I saw them once, at the Hacienda in 1989. I had to look it up, but it was around the time when "Love Love Love" came out - pretty much the only record of theirs I bought / heard. I don't recall much, other than his moustache, his high-pitched voice and an energetic performance. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Genius on the house’s money for a long time glad he stayed as active as he could until the end Ray Gun Suitcase is the greatest unknown rock record of the last 50 years Final Solution indeed RIP, sir Quote
romualdo Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Read the news earlier today One of the great bands spanning 5 decades plus David's solo work (including Richard Thompson, Red Crayola/Mayo Thompson etc) resonated for me "Final Solution", one of the standout 70s singles IMHO RIP David Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Sad news; regrettably, I never saw him or Pere Ubu, but in college (latter 90s) was quickly schooled on what a great run of records they had. Quote
