sgcim Posted Wednesday at 11:46 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:46 PM Dick Morrissey's son just hipped me to this new bunch of re-issues. I can finally hear "Storm Warning"!. https://www.udiscovermusic.com/news/decca-launches-british-jazz-explosion-series/ Quote
sgcim Posted Thursday at 12:07 AM Author Report Posted Thursday at 12:07 AM (edited) This seems be a sampler of the artists featured in the British Jazz Explosion series. As usual, DM's "Storm Warning" is my fave. Edited Thursday at 12:08 AM by sgcim Quote

ejp626 Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM Report Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM This particularly anthology (and some of the full albums, though NOT Storm Warning) is still available on Apple Music. There is not very much overlap with this 3 CD set of UK jazz rarities, aside from, you guessed it, Storm Warning. I was able to pick this up through Dusty Groove. https://www.cherryred.co.uk/blog/a-new-awakening--adventures-in-british-jazz-3cd-coming-soon Quote

clifford_thornton Posted Friday at 03:23 AM Report Posted Friday at 03:23 AM I imagine the British jazz reissue programme cued up to the "Bring out your dead" sequence in The Holy Grail... Quote
sidewinder Posted Friday at 08:12 AM Report Posted Friday at 08:12 AM The programme has been low-key and gradual but is certainly not 'dead', thanks to Tony Higgins' good work with Decca. December sees the long awaited reissue of Neil Ardley 'Greek Variations' and 'Lola' is also imminent. John Cameron 'Off Centre' also got a fairly recent reissue in the series, with new sleeve notes. Plus we have the two Mike Taylors, so some good reissues this year. Quote
Harbour Posted Friday at 06:01 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:01 PM Not a reissue but there’s a lovely new Michael Garrick recording from 1970 that’s just been released https://myonlydesirerecords.bandcamp.com/album/late-autumn-sunshine Quote
Roger Farbey Posted 23 minutes ago Report Posted 23 minutes ago Neil Ardley's excellent Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows is set for a double vinyl reissue in December on Analogue October Records having been half speed remastered https://analogueoctober.com/product/neil-ardley-kaleidoscope-of-rainbows-vinyl-reissue-aor003st/?audiogallery_startitem_ag2=0 Quote
