  1. Down Beat Jazz Festival, Chicago 1965. Bulk of the programming by my old friend Don DeMicheal and yes, that is Getz. I was there.
  2. Edit to credit my old friend Raeburn Flerlage with the photo.
  3. I used to have the vinyl box from the '50s and have fond memories of it. I am considering the cd version and am wondering if it has a substantial booklet or is it just "bare bones". Any help appreciated.
  4. I also have a cd set on Absord - Art Union, Japan 1999 .
  5. Weren't those included in "The Complete Masters"?
  6. Listening to the Buck Clayton Jam Sessions prompted me to get this off the shelf -
  7. Anyone here ever meet / see / hear John Collins in person?
  8. Interesting - haven't listened to this in a while
  9. Blackbird owner Leon Kelert was an electrical engineer and a friend of mine. I used his union labor agreement to record my first recording session. He and I recorded the "The Chase" by Jug and Dexter for Fantasy. After his passing, Bob Koester purchased the catalog from Leon's sister. More can be seen HERE. I have a Blackbird 45 by Little Brother Montgomery!
  10. Conductor Ilan Volkov posted this memory on FB - "I worked as assistant with Boston Symphony between 1998-2001.The last few years of Seijo Ozawa's time there.I learnt tons and witnessed many many rehearsals and concerts.I still remember how he came to a first rehearsal of Peter Lieberson piano concerto(Peter Serkin soloist) and knew it by heart(I think he just learnt it a few hours before, used his famous photographic memory). And did fantastic rehearsals and concerts.Just one example out of many unforgettable concerts(especially impressive were performances of Takemitsu, Lutoslawski,Dutilleux and Messaien). RIP Seiji Ozawa"
