  1. Itunes does the same thing. Trying loading those files onto another mp3 player. I would recommend not ever buying DRM files. Most sources that sell protected WMAs are pretty upfront about the fact that they wont work in ipods. Did you read the info on this site you got these files from?
  2. Alot of WMAs are protected against burning them as well.
  3. 1. Lebron 4. Chris Bosh 5. Dwayne Wade all starters for the all star game. Think pick 2, Darko, will be an alternate?
  4. also, wrong forum obviously, especially with that topic heading. Sorry Jim! If you can move it, that would be great.
  5. blue noter. Hung out at AAJ a bit, and it wasnt much. spent a day or two here and i was hooked.
  6. A little simplistic, but she does a good job showing how so many of us felt. it sounds better when she sings it (and yes, i am a fan) 'twas halloween and the ghosts were out, and everywhere they'd go, they shout, and though i covered my eyes i knew, they'd go away. but fear's the only thing i saw, and three days later 'twas clear to all, that nothing is as scary as election day. but the day after is darker, and darker and darker it goes, who knows, maybe the plans will change, who knows, maybe he's not deranged. the news men know what they know, but they, know even less than what they say, and i don't know who i can trust, for they come what may. 'cause we believed in our candidate, but even more it's the one we hate, i needed someone i could shake, on election day. but the day after is darker, and deeper and deeper we go, who knows, maybe it's all a dream, who knows if i'll wake up and scream. i love the things that you've given me, i cherish you my dear country, but sometimes i don't understand, the way we play. i love the things that you've given me, and most of all that i am free, to have a song that i can sing, on election day.
  7. Two shows right? 5:45 and 7:15? Bring on the peer pressure, but right now my day looks hectic. I'm gonna do my best, I promise!!!
  8. Only seven versions for me at the moment. Rod, how do you know its random though? Do you really know how its programmed? I, quite often, get 2 or even 3 songs in a row by the same artist. When you are talking 7500 songs and i get 2 straight by an artist i only have ten songs of, that is kinda odd. Usually I am pro'your mind is wrong and the computer is right' but this has simply happened on SOOO many occasions. And ALOT of other people have had the same complaints. Hey, its could still definitely by our minds playing tricks on us, im just wondering if you know exactly how apple does it.
  9. just got me one of them fandangled burners. i dont have an exernal harddrive, so it will be my backup method. pretty sweet so far. plus im able to 'back up' the movies i rent at blockbuster.
  10. Stephen Jackson is a complete cancer. The pacers were willing to do anything to unload him. Definitely interesting trade. I dont see either team really getting better, but you never know. Stons lose. Again. Darko did record his first career double-double the over night. Gonna be a baller!
  11. Stons lose again. Only the losses away from matching last years total. No way Dyess is dealt. Im fine with Nazr and Dale, as obviously Joe and Flip are regretting the nazr deal, and with C-Webb and Maxiell needing mintues, there isnt much need for either. Marko is pretty useless, but they are finding out the hard way what its like to not have any point guard.
  12. Sheed, Cwebb, and Dyess. A PF lineup to drool over. If only it was 1995. We have absolutely no use for Cwebb. None.
  13. along with darko's 4 blocks and 7 boards. (and 1-11 shooting)
  14. At some point this year the pistons have to start trying. Whats the deal with Sheed AND Dyess off the bench?
  15. I was negative 14 when Coltrane died. Neagative one when Lennon died. Im old.
  16. This is true at all levels of media. At one time, journalists decided what magazines investigated and reported. Entertainers decided what was on tv. Film makers decided what films to make (to a large extent). The focus should be on what is good, not on what will make money. Now, in every single aspect of society the decisionmaking process has been decided by businessmen. Pure businessmen, with no interest whatsoever in what they are doing, only in the money they will recieve. And we accept it at all levels and worse, we promote and encourage this type of thinking. We convince kids to learn only because they can make money out of it, we allow all aspects of society to be perverted because 'people have to make a buck.' To make a bigger jump than most are unwilling to make so far, it is the unrestrained pursuit of capitalism as both an economic system and as a basic morality that is continuing to destroy society. As a result, we have also seen the complete death of criticism in America. With the democratization of media we have seen the democratization of opinion. There is no good or bad, you cant even DISCUSS what is good or bad. There is only personal taste. Any attempt to think about quality is considered a direct assault on the status quo, and is therefore relegated to 'elitism.'
  17. Basically it is easier to be a casual fan, because there isnt much that differentiates the two. Its easier to get pulled into music obsessiveness when owning a record meant something. Now, casual fans have a 1000 songs on their ipod. Hardcore fans have a 1000 songs on their ipod. The whole vinyl album artwork tactilel experience thing was never about the music though. It only means something because of the music played afterwords and classical conditioning. I get the same rush out of listening to an ipod that you possibly could listening to vinyl. Because the rush comes from the music, or atleast 99% of the rush. The digital age is making things just about the music, something that many musicians have wanted for a long while. Why should we discuss album artwork? It really is completely irrelevant, as enjoyable as it may be. The biggest problem is that people value what they earn way more than what they get for free, or cheaply. You had to earn being a music fan before, and it meant something to people. The casual fan was drawn in and became a bigger fan because of their emotional and monetary investment. That no longer happens and we are left with a much great proportion of casual fans, buying casual music, of low to no quality. Thats fine, let the major labels cater to that music, instead of forcing quality acts to compromise themselves to be on major labels. Because of the breakdown of standard distribution, artists no longer need to rely on major labels in any way. They can create the music they want, everytime. We just have to wade through alot more to get to it. As always, I think we are lamenting the passing of old ways without realizing whats great about the new ways. How many of you would trade 12 inch album artwork for real time discussion of jazz with master musicians and record producers like we can do here? I know I would.
  18. http://www.houstonpress.com/Issues/2007-01.../feature_1.html Alot have been covered before, but i think this article really nails most of the key points. Thoughts?
  19. Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing. There you can set the bitrate and choose lossless/AAC/MP3. EAC is considering the gold standard for importing though.
  20. Lebron's buzzer beater: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8-d8bQU2C9g&amp...ted&search= Crazy. Pistons smoked the Hornets thanks to Sheeds monster 2 point effort.
  21. Mine too, along with the Bird Savoy/Dial master takes box.
  22. And once again, flat5, you are trying to diminish this thread.
  23. I use V0, which is around 245. I have, many times, tried blind testing and i cant really tell much of a difference. 128 will do perfectly fine with most setups, depending on the heaphones/speakers.
  24. if you buy from itunes, however, 128 is your only option.
