    New Ipods

The cheapo prices are available if you search 'refurbished ipod' the ipods arent actually refurbished though, although some may be. 60gb should hold about 1500 albums. Not bad at all.
  2. You do? Thats great to hear after the whole Nels Cline hullabaloo awhile back. He is quite adventurous, so he does indeed sometimes miss the target. But when he hits, its fantastic.

    New Ipods

Finally an 80gb ipod, and at 50 bucks cheaper than the last ipod. The best part about new ipods is the lowered cost of the old one. You can now get a 60gb Video ipod for only 229, something that retailed for 399 two days ago. If anyone is still on the fence, I highly reccomend it. Im still stuck on a 40gb black and white, but it suits my purposes pretty well. Id love the 80gig.
  4. Oh Mercy from 89 is a fantastic record. His best since Desire (and probably better.) Very much like time Out of Mind
  5. So far I am bit underwhlemed by this (i have the full disc.) I love Mehldau, but Metheny rubs me the wrong way occasionally. The quartet stuff is really great, with alot of energy. The duo stuff however gets a little bogged down. Plus, Metheny doesnt have alot to do during the Mehldau solos, because Mehldau has always been a bit note happy. Metheny does an ok job backing him up, but sometime he seems to be just trying to get out of the way. Maybe a few more listenings will help though. If this were all quartet, I wouldnt hesitate to reccomend it.
  6. i hope to catch them. the motian/lovano/frisell trio is also doing a few weeks. quite a trio of trios.
  7. All Outkast albums are worthwhile, but more arent as diverse. The only one that comes close is The Love Below/Speakerboxx, a double disc from a few years back. The Love Below disc is absolutely fantastic. If you dig Idlewild youll love that cd. The rest of their releases are much more hip-hop. although a very peculiar brand of hip hop.
  8. Question - how come you're buying a suit over in the other thread, and yet you're a "lass" over here in this one? Shouldn't you be buying a dress? I was wondering about that. Which brings me to why I voted 'other' in technological advancement...
  9. I absolutely love Moran, and I will definitel get this one as early as I can. You can check out a track from NPR's 'Song of the Day' NPR.org, July 31, 2006 · Maybe it's an indication that the initial weirdness of listening to it has worn off, but pianist Jason Moran's scrupulous practice of using pre-recorded dialogue as a guide for etching melodic statements has never sounded as moving as it does on "Artists Ought to Be Writing." When Moran first demonstrated this approach on 2003's The Bandwagon, the results were jarring and didactic. Again there's an edifying tenor to "Artists Ought to Be Writing," as sampled orator (and performance artist) Adrian Piper uncorks a manifesto urging artists to demystify the esoteric by letting people in on the inspirations, intentions and machinations of their works in hopes of building a more informed audience. The composition, nevertheless, rewards the listener with emotional magnetism via Moran's elegiac piano work. At first, Moran underscores Piper's androgynous voice with lovely chords; then, he slowly unveils melodic phrases that shadow-dance alongside her rhythmic cadence. Soon, it's easy to discover the inherent musicality of Piper's speech patterns -- and, conversely, the soulfulness in Moran's analytical experimentation. As the sampled voice disappears, Moran continues to build upon Piper's recitation, unraveling a surging and sanguine improvisation. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5591264
  10. Media's a very nice town. You're somewhere up near Horsham, iirc? Huntingdon Valley there are entirely WAAAAY too many towns/cities/villages in this state. seems like there are about 10 per square mile.
  11. Originally I was a bit disappointed with the album, because it sounded so much like Love and Theft. (not that L and T is bad, its just that I already have one copy of it. I also much preffered Time out of Mind.) After a few more listens Im really starting to LOVE this album. Working Mans Blues is just awesome. Nettire Moore and Aint Talkin are also great. Im glad Bob is still with us and still makes high quality and relevant music.
  12. Being a young lass (barely 25) it has been very interesting to grow up on the cusp of the Great Technological Advances of the computers and the internet. How someone booked a flight or figured out long distance directions before the internet is just beyond me. However, I do remember the early days of cell phones (anyone remeber pagers?) and the internet. I'm glad to have atleast alittle bit of experience living in the stone age. How about the ipod? That has certainly had a HUGE effect on my overall enjoyment level in life.
  13. Sorta. Its located in Media, PA with students throughout the state.
  14. Well, I got a job. Not the job I bought the suit to interview for, but still a nice one with benefits and all that. Its at a cyber school, so they also pay for my computer and internet. Sweeeeet.
  15. I wonder if this will finally end the whole college coach in the NBA thing. I mean, besides Larry Brown has anyone has success in both?
  16. I really enjoy this one. Definitely better than Tipping Point and probably better than almost all of Phrenology. Pretty strong all the way through. Glad to see them returning to form. In other hip hop news, the new Outkast is absolutely fantastic.
  17. Personally, I think it would be HORRIBLE on DVD. This film needs a big screen and a huge audience. Watching in your living room wont work at all. I loved it. It sure did deliver what it promised. Sneaking beer into the theater certainly helped as well. It has gotten alot of positive word of mouth. I wouldnt be surprised if it does well this weekend.
  18. These get great reviews for the money over at www.headfi.org http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BKE8Q...5764710?ie=UTF8 i would recommend heading over there and reading up on reviews. ive never tried IEMs myself.
  19. Doesn't the title says 'Attention Dave Holland fans"? Personally, I love most of his work. My favorite parts are Chris Potter and Billy Kilson though, so we shall. I cant imagine anyone being bored by his music. Those trombone-sax intertwining solos are absolutely thrilling. to each his own.
  20. I thought the love below was absolutely brilliant, and Questlove is an absolute monster. I can't imagine anyone thinking The Love Below is overrated or mediocre, let alone poor. As a few others have stated, its Wynton who is the odd man out here. I guess he could probably ape Miles pretty well, but he certainly doesnt match Miles attitude at all.
  21. Why dont you just buy another pair of the ones that died? Head-fi is a great source for finding out what you want, lots of discussion from knowledgeable people. If occasionally near psychotic people when it comes to headphones.
  22. who else? Actually, it said i was Tim Duncan.
  23. As download speeds continue to increase, we will see the beginnings of lossless (aka CD quality) downloads. Eventually, of course, there will be absolutely no physical media, but thats probably 15 to 20 years away. In ten years CDs will still be popular especially among the old folks (anyone 25 or older right now) However, as a guitar teacher I see ALOT of kids who are into music, yet very very few own cds. Or atleast, own alot of cds. Personally, im looking forward to the bottom completely dropping out of the used cd market. Cheap cds for me! Hopefully not too cheap where places continue to go out of business though.
