As I said in the other thread, this is an absurdly fantastic set. A must own for any Tom Waits fan. I have had it for several weeks and I simply can;t stop listening to it.

Frisell, Motian, Carter is FANTASTIC. Definitely a great starter disc for a budding Frisellian.

I think microsoft knows this is an inferior product, but they are just doing what they can to get in the game. eventually it will gt better, but it is still nowhere near what it needs to be.

None of these. It RENAMES the files according to what itunes thinks they should be. Meaning, if you add something that isnt well names, it will automatically put it in as Uknown Artist - Uknown Album. You must be very careful. The one great thing about it though is that if you change the artist name or genre or whatever within itunes, it stays changed if you take it out of the library, and then re-add it. If you dont have it set to organized, the file will revert to its preitunes tags once it is taken out of the library. Hope that made sense.

The whole box is indeed fantastic. Tons of great new songs and recording, and some very curious and entertaining older stuff. As I do with all Tom Waits, I completely love it. If you like anything he has done in the last 20 years, you will love this. It also contains his version of the song 'Long Way Home' which Norah Jones recorded on her last album. (He wrote it.) Definitely a high point on the set.

The press sure do love controversy. The guy might have pine tar in his hand in the first inning, it still doesnt explain the one hit he allowed over the next 7 without pine tar. Its about as moot as moot points get.

Then why listen to CDs at all, and only purest vinyl? This is all well and good, but it doesnt change the fact that virtually no one can tell the difference between a high bitrate lame encoded mp3 and lossless, especially in portable situations.

We arent talking analog vs digital. Hey, if you think you can tell the difference, more power to you! I would suggest doing a couple ABX tests to make certain, however.

They've gotten some pretty fantastic reviws over a head-fi. Eltimate Ears just came out with a new high end IEM that are 'only' 400. Havent heard much about them though.

Why do you need lossless? Its overkill and I would bet essentially 100% of people couldnt tell the difference etween lossless and high bitrate mp3, especially on a portable player. However, if you do need lossless to my knowledge EVERY portable player of good quality has atleast one or two lossless options.
