One of my local shops has got that blue-rinse Leo Parker. Gotta have that one !

I DO I DO! :g

I appreciate the fact that one obscure BN recording surfaces in this series from time to time - LIKE the Leo Parker, Lonnie Smith ("Think"), and the Mobley "Poppin'"

I ain't a-gettin' any younger waiting for BN USA to get these in print, so for now... :P

Hey, that Leo Parker is from a TOCJ.  It sounds great.  Doesn't have the alternate that was on the US edition though.  That one too is coming up in the RVG program according to Kevin (I think).

:eye::eye::o

I'd no idea that it was a TOCJ !

At present I survive with my French Pathe Macaroni LP version of this session but must head to shop tomorrow to grab this beut.. It's £5 :)

In addition to the ones mentioned they have:

Thad Jones - Detroit New York Junction

Lee Morgan - The Cooker

Lennie Tristano & Warne Marsh - Intuition

Larry Young - Into Something

Lester Young - Volume 1, Aladdin Sessions

Ruben Wilson - Love Bug

If I didn't have 'em, I'd be pickin them up.

Just ordered "POPPIN'" by Mobley Spanish Edition, 6.99 from the "Groove of Dust!!!!!"  They seem to have received a whole new shipment - Mingus at Town Hall, Groove Holmes, and others!

Good Luck! :P

i got hooked for the mobley, the blue mitchell & the leo parker.

someone should grab the griffin. the congregation for 6.99! WOW!!

Tha's a lotta blue!

LITERALLY! The blue-tinted Spanish ed. covers are sorta tacky, but I can't complain about the music or price! Thought I'd NEVER get to hear "Poppin'" - Hope it's as good as I anticipate! :D

Yeah, I dig the Mobley since hearing it! Have only had time to play once but will revisit this weekend. First impression is that everybody is swinging hard - esp. Pepper Adams and the rhythm section! Love Pepper's work in general!! Art and Hank sound pretty sweet too.

Sound quality is good too.
