Totally different in instrumentation and completely lacking in 'blues' feel but has that same spacey, taking your time feel as KOB. Perhaps 'In A Silent Way' would be a closer reference point. A very fine album. Another one that comes to mind is "Jazz Impressions of Japan" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Stylistically, it's different from KOB, however they have an similiar feeling overall. Dave James Posted September 24, 2003 Report Share Posted September 24, 2003 (edited) Bev, As pervasively influential as KOB has become, I would not be surprised if ECM was influenced by Miles' less is more approach. Part of the ECM aesthetic is Manfred Eicher's recording technique. I'm not quite sure how he does it, but it's utterly unique. A signature as recognizable as RVG's. Up over and out.
