James Moody - Moody's Mood for Blues (Prestige/OJC)
Originally released as two LPs: James Moody's Moods and Moody

I love this music, but I will say this: There's just too much usage of the words "Moody" and "Moods."  It's confusing as hell -- and it reminds me of the way that Junior Cook continually released album titles that punned on his last name.  I'm not a fan of that.  O.K. do it maybe one time.  After that, cut it out.  Enough already.

It's a pet peeve of mine. ;)

You sound quite moody about it 🙂

btw, the mandatory reading here are the various posts by our former member Chris Albertson, like this one, more... the Lil Hardin session is a bit special because by accident Albertson had booked two Dixieland bands and not one (as explained somewhere there...) so everything is double...

I have only the date with Max Roach, J.J. Johnson and Brew Moore which is nice. And some 1953 date with Tal Farlow that sounds a bit melancolic...somehow very dark....., but the best 1949 Maggie is on the Afro-Cubop dates with Brew Moore and Machito Orchestra, that´s incredible trumpet, maybe he even tops Diz on that occasion
